I have the honour to samovledge receipt of You
zoellene'a Tote dated the 11th June stating that a fupe
thor default had occurred in the payment of the half-yearly
interest which fall due on let June, 1954, together with
Bank'a cocinaions in respect of the Canton- owloon lail-
way Coen of 1907, and that the total amount in default
had reached the large son of £3,679,060. 3. 0. It was
requested that this beer noetakuletion of debt, for the
liquidation of which no effective measures had as yet been
taken, should be brought to the seriae attention of the
Chinese Goverment, in order that early provision night
be made to reduce the amount in appears W mibetantial re-
mittances. I have also the honour to acknowledge receipt
of the statement attached to Your xoellency'ɑ Boto.
I have the honour to state in reply that the ind Øre

now furnished the following occrarioatian în reply:-
